As I usually find my Explorer problems listed on here and have had success in the past solving them, I'll put this one out there. It may already be on here but I did not locate it. Anyway, at present, both my rear inner door handles on my 97 Explorer XLT are out of commission. No, the child-proof lock is not on. One broke, then about 2 months later, the other one broke. Both still have spring tension on the handles but the handle does not return to the flush fit position when released nor will it open the door. Outside works fine as does the door lock. Searching the net, I've seen anything from the retaining clip has broken to the handle itself needs replacement. I've seen many others with this problem but never came across the solution. Any help is greatly appreciated. It would be nice to have what I need before I pull the door apart.
