97 Exploder power steering pump

what is a good upgrade power steering pump for a 97 Exployer with a 5.0?

You might be able to do a Saginaw pump but the bracket and everything will have to be modified. There are other companies out there such as PSC and Howe that might be able to help you.

yeah mine has the serpentine belt and with the AC dont know if I can get a upgraded power steering pump or not

For what reason do you want a better pump?

The pump the 5.0L explorers and the 4.6L modular motors use are a higher output pump than the ranger's pump, It will run anything you add to the system, including ram assist and/or hydro boost...I'm doing both

my power steering pump just went out ...and if their is a good upgrade that will bolt on to the factoy ...I want it

Because of the way the pump is made and bolts to the bracket, there is not enough room to bolt a saginaw pump there. You can use any pump that was bolted to a modular motor (4.6L, 5.4L, etc) that has a remote reservior...If you do a search here there is a member doing a V8 swap that swapped to hydroboost from a 98 cobra, he has a pump but he can't use it, I'm sure he'd sell it for cheap. What are you using for the hydro boost master cylinder? I have thought about running it in my rig too.

I'm building 60's for my rig, so I went with 03 superduty hydroboost and master cylinder, since I'm running the same calipers from that year truck...There is another member on here that used a 98 cobra unit, and only had to redrill the two upper mounts, and extend the shaft to the brake pedal about a 1/2 inch...
