Hi, Pulled my intake manifold for some thread repair work and am ready to reinstall. In order to remove the intake I loosened the rocker arms enough to remove the push rods, removed and marked the pushrods for easy reinstallation. Some of the springs were under more tension than others. The engine hasn't been turned over or moved since the push rods were removed. The question is: Can I lube the push rod ball ends. reinstall and torque them without rotating the crankshaft? The Ford manual talks about rotating the crank to two different positions on the exhaust stroke in order to tighten all the rockers. I haven't a clue how to know when you're at TDC on the exhaust stroke with the pushrods out of the engine. Thanks, and any help greatly appreciated.

Sure! Just tighten them all down to the manual's torque specification. Since they are hydralic lifters they all get tightened and there is no adjustment from there.. Just screw em all down and you are ready to go.

Thanks for the help. Best news I've had all day.
