97 3.0 change over to 99 3.0

I finally found a 3.0 but it's a 99, all I see is diff intake(small coolant lines). I noticed another thread relating something about its cam timing being different than earlier 3.0s and coil packs---which I will get with motor...what about the computer??? Will I need the 99 or can I use the one in my truck(97)? If this is extreme I should just for go that engine. moneys tight I need no mistakes...
