Does anyone have experience removing one of these. It only has three bolts but is connected to a second pipe under the distributor and radiator. How do I separate the pipes? I’ve tried gently hammering a pry bar but I don’t want to break anything

Um, what? a '96 2.3L doesn't have a distributor, are you talking the coil pack? There are more than 3 bolts if I remember right but most of them are by the timing cover. Maybe I didn't change my water pump a couple years ago but a coworker did on his '98 when he did a timing belt and he broke that lower hose deal on his and apparently there's a Dorman replacement that's aluminum instead of plastic so you don't have to worry too much

Mine was metal to begin with. Basically just yanked it side to side till it popped
