Just ran into a problem with my '96 Ranger. Got our first snow of the year tonight, and leaving work, no 4wd. When I switched to 4 hi, the 4WD light, and the 4WD low light flashed. They then kept randomly flashing all the way home.
Something common? Simple? I hope!!!

1996 Ranger, V6, Auto, auto locking hubs. Not sure what other info you need. Any ideas???? We got almost a foot of white crap on the ground, and i'm stuck with 2wd!!!

Most likely the shift motor or 4x4 control module.

If you are into trying to clean it, look in the transfercase/hub forum. There are alot of useful links there.

Read some threads on here, after I posted. Went out, and pulled the 3 fuses I could find that were labeled 4wd in the owners manual. 2 in the dash fuse block, and one is the underhood distribution box. All 3 were good. But, after pulling them and checking them, I now have 4WD. So either I had a bad connection at the fuse, or I'm going to have an intermitent problem.
