My credo
They say it can't be done, so I did it. Again
I have a 1985 Ranger flatbed with an EFI 2.3 and five speed that I want to install the engine and all the wiring harness from a donor 1986 5.0 AWD Explorer that I purchased for the swap. I want to use all wiring harness with the OBD2 setup for several reasons including using the console and overhead displays. The AWD system and auto trans will not be used as I intend to use the five speed I saved from a 1992 4.9 F150 I had previously. I already have the clutch and flywheel as one assembly from the wrecker. The 85 Ranger 2.3 engine and EFI is getting a refresh with a new cam and valvetrain and it along with the five speed trans, and wiring harness are going into my son's 78 Pinto which has a seized 2.3 and four speed. I could not find a thread with either of the specific swap scenarios and I am not interested in a standalone aftermarket harness. Any help would be appreciated.

I assume you mean 96 Explorer...

I don't have any specific advice.

Good luck, because you've got your work cut out for you!

Of course, almost immediately after I posted this I found a thread with the Explorer to Ranger swap but I have not read it yet.

Yes, I meant 96 Explorer

You probably can find a cheaper solution but I would look into a mass air harness and a9l computer from a fox body
