Will a 96 Explorer 4.0 work in a 94 Ranger 4.0? What do I have to change to make it work?

i have a 1992 ford ranger with the 4.0 i was wondering what i would need to make a motor from a 96 4.0 work in my truck i can get one right now for very cheap so i am just wondering how hard it is

It will fit but you will have to chage over wiring harnesses, ECU, etc from the donor to keep the newer injection system or strip down the donor motor and install all your older.
