Hi there,
I'm swapping a 97 explorer 5.0 with a M5OD-R2 into my 96 2wd. I just want to double check my research before I start tearing into things.
For the engine I'm using shorty headers with the convertible mustang mounts. I'd like put a cam in budget allows.
I've thoroughly confused myself with the tuning though. I know that going from auto to manual, the ecm thinks that there is still a trans there. Now i've read that this isn't an issue and you can bypass it, or it's a huge issue and the ecm goes into limp mode. However I can't seem to figure out what the answer is. I've called around and nobody will touch the explorer ecm. So just what do I need to do to make it play nice with the manual trans?
I'll be using the M5OD-R2. I'll use a clutch/Flywheel/starter off of a 96 f150, then use the slave off my M5OD-R1. I believe this should bolt up in stock location, but I'm not 100%. Then I'm not totally sure on the driveshaft details yet, but I can figure that out once it's in the truck.
