ok, i was driving down the road and my truck started sputtering and quit on me. i managed to pull off. upon inspection of the engine, i found that the bolts holding the air bypass controller are completely gone. i went to the dealer and the guy said he didnt know what size the bolts were. he guessed but the size he told me isnt even on the internet. can ANYBODY tell me what size bolts fasten on the air bypass on the side of the engine?!it is a 4.0 v6.

I can't tell you off the top of my head. If AllanD pops in he might know that particular obscure detail....

What I can tell you is how I go about solving those particular conundrums. You basically have two options:

A) Head on down to the local ACE with the truck. They are usually pretty cool about letting you grab a few small bolts and run out to the lot the see if they fit the hole.

or

B) Head on down to the local junk yard and go hunting.

not exactly sure what you're describing.. pics? we can judge the size and pitch from pictures.

probably M8 x 1.25
