I'm considering buying a 1995 Ford Ranger, 3.0 v6 5speed. The only real problem it has is that the tail lights and reverse lights don't work. Is there a preferred way to trouble shoot this issue? Should I consider new wires and a new wire harness and even new sockets if I were to buy it? It doesn't seem like it should be too involved of a fix...maybe it just needs some new wiring ran? I'd appreciate any advice.

with your parking lights on at dusk check to see if you have dash lights. If you dont have dash lights then your problem with the tailights is a blown fuse as the dash & tail lights work off the same fuse. It could even be just the tailight filament in each bulb of the taillights are bad/burnt out.

Your reverse could also be bad bulbs or the reverse switch mounted on the drivers side of the tranny.

I hope this helps or others may have suggestions
