95 F150 5.0 vs 84 Crown Vic 5.0

Got any motors you don't need? lol

The 95 engine is a roller cam block and the 84 isn't. Both would be 1 piece rear main seal, 50 oz/in imbalance engines. I suspect the pistons in the 95 would work better with GT40 heads because it would have come with E7TE( truck/Mustang) heads. A roller cam costs more initially but you won't end up with excess flat tappet wear and metal particles circulating through the oil like my son did when his Crane cam went south. Roller cams also have less parasitic drag. If you decide to use the 84 make sure you use oil with zinc/phosphorus additive (ZZDP). Of course after a while that'll eat up the "savings" from using a flat tappet cam.

I will pull heads off 95 this weekend. I have a new flat tappet cam that should be pretty rowdy. If cylinders look good I may use that block instead
