95 explorer motor in 94 ford ranger. Both are 4wd and automatic

If both are 4.0l engines then nothing needs to be changed, should be plug and play, you can swap upper and lower intakes for match up of wiring and fuel lines

Can't swap automatics in those years. 1989-1994 are A4LD automatics, and are different than 1995-2011 4R55E automatics

Transfer cases are the same, assuming both are electric shift, BW1354's

How can I find what model of transmission I have? What about gauge cluster door panels? I have read I have to also change intake. Do I have to change the whole intake or just the plenum top part

The reason for keeping the intake that was on it before is to keep from having to change the wiring and harness, so you put the new block in there but leave/replace the original intake that was already on it

1994 Ranger/Explorer was last year using the 60-wire EEC-IV Computer(OBD1)
1995 Ranger/Explorer used the 104-wire EEC-V Computer(OBD2)
So Vehicle wiring was different

So clusters will be different, because they have "wiring"
Door panels might be the same, no "wiring", but Rangers and Explorers are not the same Model, just similar, and you can't use Explorer doors on Rangers and visa versa, they won't fit

1994 Ranger used an A4LD automatic(EEC-IV)
1995 Explorer used a 4R55E automatic(EEC-V)
These used different Computers to control shifting, so not a simple swap if you need to change computer and all the wiring

The 4.0l OHV engine was used in Rangers and Explorers from 1990-2000, the block and heads(engine) can be swapped, but the controls for the engine(on the upper and lower intake) must be swapped to match the year of the computer

If I keep the wiring harness and the computer for the transmission I can use the transmission

No

Would be better to sell the working 4R55E and use that money to fix the A4LD

There are quite a few differences in a 1994/1995 swap, you need to swap engine and cab wiring harnesses and lots of re-pinning of other connectors and the cluster
And swap exhaust to get rear O2 sensors
Also swap steering column to get OD on/off button, 4R55E doesn't use shifter selector for OD like 1994 A4LD did
Just too many differences to use a 4R55E transmission in a 1994 and no real benefit, its a 28 year old automatic

I am doing the swap tomorrow. I have both engines pulled. Do I need to swap the camshaft sensor in the back of motor? 94 has no wires running to it. The 95 has a bunch of wires. Or can I just leave it in and not hook it up?

I have the same problem Scott in my 93, to put a 96 in there. Between 94 and 95 they went to another system.
So the 96 block can drop right it, but the 93 upper and lower intakes will go back in on top to keep from having to completely change the harnesses

94 is the first picture

Can I leave the 95 camshaft in it or do I need to put the 94 camshaft in the 95? Since the 94 has no wires to it

I'm sorry Scott but I can't answer that for you, I'm hoping you will get the answers you need, tho it could take some time :/

Understandable! I am doing the swap tomorrow. I am going to leave the 95 camshaft sensor in it since I will not be hooking anything to it.

Cam synchronizer can be left in place and just not used in a 1994(non-california) Ranger, it is also the oil pump drive
Or you can pull it out AND then pull out the oil pump drive in the old 1994 engine and put it in the 1995 block
These are interchangeable parts
Cam sensors are needed in 1995 and up to meet emissions standards

I would it pull out and put in the 1994 oil pump drive, cleaner look and less to go wrong, bushings in the cam synchro can fail
Oil pump drive doesn't need to be timed like cam synchro
