94 Standard Cab, door gap adjustment

The driver side door on my Ranger has a large gap between the rear edge of the door and the cab. Also, the front edge of the door actually rubs the front fender. It looks to me like I will have to remove the front fender in order to loosen the door to the point that I can adjust it and get the gaps right. Is this right, and if I do have to remove the fender, how difficult is it? Thanks in advance for your help.
 
the fender should just be a bunch of small bolts. and take out the light assembly and fender liner in the wheel well. there are some at the bottom, down in front of the bottom of the door, too.
