94 ranger

i was wondering if a 4.0 out of a 95 explorer will fit in my 94 ranger. both have 4.0 and 4x4 with auto tranny. also my tranny is shot so since im putting a 95 motor in it will the tranny have to be 95 and up or will any work cause i think they changed the auto trans from 94 to 95. will the motor bolt up with no mods and what about the electronics r all the plugs the same?

The motors are the same. There are sensors and such that probably have changed. If you go to a parts store and explain to them what you are doing they may give you a print out of any differences between the engines switches & sensors. Luckily it's still OBD I so much should be the same.
