On highway yesterday drove about 50 miles at 65 with no problems. On return trip going along fine then engine started missing and RPM dropped to less than 2000 -- with accelerator floored. No power. Pulled over waited and barely limped it home.

It has 218000 miles.
I replaced within the past 3 weeks--
plugs
plug wires
fuel filter
throttle body position sensor
coil pack
engine coolant temperature sensor
cleaned mass air flow sensor per the book
cleaned the idle air control
replaced the intake gasket when I replaced the valve cover gaskets
cleaned the throttle body
checked all vaacuum hoses

does not burn oil

not overheating

oil shows no sign of coolant

Catalytic converter clogged???

Any help appreciated!!!!

What kind of fuel pressure do you have?

Yes, fuel pressure test would help ID or eliminate the fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator.

Also run with gas cap loose, could be EVAP system building up negative pressure in the fuel tank so pump can not send as much fuel out.

Had similar problem with mine last summer (1 year ago). Replaced pretty much all you did took it to a garage they confirmed everything was OK, then said injectors were fair. Anyhow replaced all the injectors and it cured the problem. got the new injectors at autozone and they have worked fine. when I took old ones out there was dirt or something in the injector holes! I had had them cleaned about 150000 miles prior, so they were due for change as were almost all the ignition components just due to age. currently at 320000 miles still going strong.
