I want to swap in a 2.3 turbo into my ranger. Its a 94 2.3 with an automatic tranny. I think I understand the majority of whats involved, but I don't know about the wiring. This truck is my daily driver so I want it to be reliable.

What harness do I need and how does it connect/work with the factory gauges
Which donor vehicle would be the best for this swap?

hands down get a 2.3T engine from a Turbo Coupe, Merkur or SVO. the best years are 87 and 88 turbo coupe, they came with a larger VAM and the LA3 computer. the engine is all forged internals made to handle boost. you can run plenty of boost and make plenty of power with a stock bottom end. for alot of good turbo info try turboford or turbotbird both good sites dedicated to the 2.3T

Go to the tech library on this site. It has plenty of wiring diagrams and everything else you'll need for the 2.3T swap.

for your swap i believe that it would be easiest to swap the motor and run a tuner witha turbo tune for it instead of swapping out all the stuff to older electronics.
