My credo
Well, that didn't work. Let's try something else!
My exhaust manifold is cracked. I went to the junk yard today but none of their first gens had the 2.3. I came across a 94 with a 2.3 and did some quick Google searches that indicated that it should work fine on my motor. Everything bolts up fine, but the old manifold had another tube coming off it (capped by the po) that went to 4 holes underneath the exhaust ports. The new manifold leaves these uncovered. What are they and can I block them off? They lead to the exhaust port, so maybe it was a smog pump? Anyone know how to block them off? Tap and bolt, maybe?

Pics of what I'm talking about:

some engines had a air pump to put fresh air into the exhaust. that's what those holes in the exhaust manifold are for. it was for fresh air to help complete the fuel burn in the exhaust.

Thanks! Since the bung was capped for that anyway on the old manifold, I tapped the holes and put cap screws with Loctite red in the holes.
