so I convinced my buddy to buy a 94 ranger xlt single cab with 4x4 and manual transmission. Once he got it he wanted me to swap out his deck for obvious reasons so i did. 10 miles after I had swapped it out his battery and oil light came on at the same time yet the gauges didnt move at all. plus the check engine light did not come on. completely dumb founded by this. Anybody have any answers for it?

take the deck back out and look for melted or pinched wires/ crossed wires. that were caused because you installed the new deck. im assuming you think that you caused it. idk what all wiring you did but, i had a friend install a stereo in a mazda once a week later every time he turned the key on the dash would smoke because the clutch pedal had pinched the cable he ran to the fuse box.
