Hey guys I'm new here I've been looking around and reading older post but thought I would go ahead and start a new post bc I don't want to make a mistake on figuring out what is wrong.

'94/3.0L manual 5 speed/ regular cab/ Not my daily driver

A few months ago I noticed that in 5th gear it would feel like it wanted to slip out of gear but never did. As the months pass it seems to get worse and is doing it in most gears. I'm not certain but seems to do it more when first cranked when its cold this could be a (coincidence) but does it all the time. In the past I've noticed it may be a little hard to get out of gear or even to get it in gear but I haven't noticed this lately.

I don't know if it would be the clutch worn or slave cylinder? If either, should I replace both at same time? thanks for any advice

Ok, by "slip out of gear" do you mean the shifter wants to pop back into neutral, or it just feels like it all the power of the engine is not getting to the trans?

Either way, the trans needs to come out, at which point the clutch and slave should be replaced just because you are there.

I'm gonna guess the latter.

If the engine revs up when you're in gear and you give it gas, yet the truck doesn't accelerate like it's supposed to = slipping clutch (simply worn out, most likely).

thanks guys for the responses. To clear up, the shifter doesn't actually try to jump out it just seems like it stalls-slips while driving. guess its time for another clutch/slave prolly just do both . thanks again.

If the clutch has been slipping, as it sounds like, check the flywheel. It may need resurfaced or replaced. Mild grooving/cracking can be solved with a resurface, deeper ones require replacement.
