I just installed a 93 explorer gauge cluster with a tach in my 94 ranger everthing worked great. That was when I tested everything before I put the trim back on. I noticed this morning going to work the volt meter gauge is pointing straight left. I am thinking I hit it or something for it to be that far out and it doesnt move. Any ideas? Thanks for any help. I'm thinking about taking it apart and checking the needle to see if it was hit out of place might be able to put it back. :icon_confused:
 
I had a few issues with my old dash similar to that. I put white faces on, and had to pull all the needles off.

Just pull the dash trim, and the lens. Gently pull the needle off, start the engine, gently push the needle back on where you want it. Then reassemble.

But I would also get a volt meter and test the voltage at the battery with engine off and with engine running
 
Just started it last night and thumped the plastic with my hand and it poped back and started working ok. Kinda wierd but its okay for now. I just need to find some different cheap led's to put in only about 3 out of the 12 I ordered from ebay are still working. I checked out super bright led's .com but they were 5.00 a piece....
 
Have u had any problems with the speedometer needle? I removed mine on my 94 and now its all messed up, just trying to see if possibly you had a similar problem with that?
 
Speedo seems okay. If it shakes bad at lower speeds it was probably pegged. It could probably be something else but??? I did have a problem not getting the cable back on correctly it was half way on then fell off.
 
my 1994 ranger with original gauges did that occasionally.

alternator and battery were recent and working perfect, digital readings on a voltmeter at the battery confirmed that.

every now and then, just on initial startup, the voltmeter needle would point west.

whack the dash, and it would immediately begin working and stay working.
