I recently acquired a "94 Ranger, 2.3, 5 SPD., 3.45 plain Jane no
power anything gutless wonder. I do like the gas mileage but not the
the lack of power. So I am planning on a head, intake and cam swap
this spring. This will include a milled and ported head and some
cat back exhaust work.
I have a couple question concerning my upcoming project.
First I've acquired some parts. First is a Super Coupe supercharger
setup with the intercooler and throttle body, no MAF. That's for later.
Second is a t5 and bell housing. I've searched and found answers
for most of my questions concerning that swap. Now my first question.
Are the "94 and earlier injectors are 14 lbs. and "95 and later are 19 lbs.?
I have a "95 intake ( I think it's a better design ) with maroon top injectors
to swap over this spring and would like to know what they are rated at.
Second question is about a cam. I have cam that measures .238-.240
lobe lift and has an engraved BP 7 on the back side of the rear journal.
The cam is a roller. The only thing close I have found is the Ford marine
cam used by OMC. I have the lift number of .393 but no others. If anybody
has any answers I would appreciate it.

95 and later are also 14lb per hour so are the earlier year.yellow top Injectors from 5.0 mustangs and expos are 19 and swap in easily.

Thanks for the reply. Looks like I'll be looking for some different injectors.

The only thing I found that increases power in these trucks is to replace your gearing with 4.56-1. I have the standard cab version of the 94 with a 5 speed. I couldn't use 4th sometimes, or fifth ever prior to making the switch.
The power increase, and fuel economy increase paid for itself.
Now, the only question I have is does the computer need to be updated, for the change in gearing?
Just trying to give back to the site that saved my sanity! :)

Bigger injectors don't make more power. If you can't get the air in to support the extra fuel all you end up doing is wasting fuel.

I would look into ditching those 3.45 gears. 4.10 or 4.56 is the way to go with a 4-cylinder.

As I stated in my original post. The increase in compression and airflow will
deem it necessary to increase fuel flow. The Ford marine/OMC cam came
from an engine rated at 128 h.p.. And that's with a little Rochester 2 barrel carb.
This combination will make for a substantial increase over stock. I know it's
more than likely still going to be less than 150 h.p. and a similar increase in
torque. Still less than the newer vehicles on the road , but it will be easier to keep
up with traffic. But this is the first step of the plan. The M90 is the next one.
