94 b4000 axle swap/offroad build

well i have a waggy axle sittin in my garage that i was plannin on using unfortunately it would take way too much dickin around to get it to work. It might eventually find it's way under the "Dirty White Boy" bronco two in the next couple of year's but will stay leaf sprund. I should be pickin up a HP44 outta a 76-77 F-150 so i can still use the Rusty's arm's. and i think i might have a fullwidth 8.8 lined up as well. i will most likely be swappin to jeep coil's at this time as well as swapin out the front shock's.

have the axle's in the garage and are almost completely stripped down, all that's left is to grind 3 more weld's down. i ended up with a 77 HP44 and a 9'' so she will be fullwidth by spring time!!!!
The axle's are being completely rebuilt as i dont want to have to be tearing into them a month after i swap them in. I picked up all the balljoint's and axle joint's today as that is all i had for cash on me at the time. ordering the axle bracket's tonight from Ballistic (even tho I dont want to) and hopefully i'll be placing an order from randy's ring and pinion on thursday for the gear's and master install kit's

So whats going to happen to your D30?

i think about the only thing worth a crap in the whole axle are the axle joint's, im gonna strip the shaft's outta the axle and give them to my brother for christmas he just picked up a cherokee for a DD i figure he will might need them eventually

future plan's have changed quite a bit. look's like i will be yanking the D30 out and putting TTB Back in (with a 6'' lift) .

i am currently looking for a 1st gen explorer/navajo that i will swap the d44/9'' into. after the exp is on the road/trail (including swaping over winch, cb, and all the other goodie's) i will prolly put the mazda up for sale, or park it at camp. im not sure what i'll do with it just yet but i think with the family expanding i will enjoy the extra seat's and i wont have to worry about everything in the back gettin caked in mud :)

I keep thinking the same thing, explorer would be nice with the rear seats for the kids, but I also put to much work into my truck to just scrap it...

that's why im throwin the TTB back in. i have to find an exp first for donor part's. i may end up wheelin my truck next spring. i am still in the process of buyin part's for the axle's and progress is slow so i dont think i will have an explorer, stripped, swaped, and ready to rock by the time snow melt's. spring opener will be tackled with the FAZDA. it dominated last year so we'll have to see how it does this year. but i do hope to have the spolder done by mid summer so i can wheel it at the local 4x4 jambo.

So why put the TTB back under her with a lift if its not going to be used as much? I would just keep it as it is and sell it as it is instead of putting money into a TTB lift. I would just leave her as she is, keep it as a back up vehicle.

i have a 6'' TTb lift sittin in my garage and the D-30 is shot. however i may just throw another d-30 under it for now and then i dont need to find an explorer that is TTB. there is a later model sploder for sale localy fully loaded with the 5.0 that has a broken A arm. really has my gear's turnin.

I would get the 5.0 sploder and keep the D30 under your truck, your one of the people who convenced me to do my D30 SAS and a person I refer others to for help on such a swap.

BTW, not a premium member anymore?

i'll have to see what's more feesiable for the truck. if i get a truck with good TTb then i might swap it out. It would cost me nothing but time. however if I get a one with IFS then i wont have that option. However i ran across a supercab ranger with a blown motor for super cheap that i dont know if i can pass up. The owner said it's in rough condition (dents and ding's) and it seem's to be less dented and scratched then my truck.

as far as the premium member thing i guess i'm not anymore i will have to get the card from the wife next week and sign up again. thank's for lettin me know

well solid it is. picked up another D-30 high pinion non disco. only down side is i'll have to swap out the shaft's for mine since the one i picked up has the small joint's (one's smoked anyhow).

I would rebuild it before putting it under your truck, then you should be good to go. Do you know the gear ratio of the new one?

I wish mine had u-joints, but I havent had any problms with my CV shaft axles.........yet. I know mines a 27 spline.

new one is same gearing 3.55's. as far as rebuilding. dont really know if it's worth dropin 300 buck's on wheel bearing's alone. eventually this truck will be goin by the wayside. for now it just has to make it until i get the 44/9'' rebuilt and geared. i have alomost all the rebuild part's for the 44 just need lockout's, hub and rotor's, gear's and install kit.

still lookin for an explorer/navajo and have came to the realization that even if i could find and extended cab it will most likely do.

300 hundred, damn where you getting them from?????

If theres nothing wrong with them, dont replace them. I would just swap over the axles, make sure the seal and ball joints are good and go from there.
