Hello everyone, I have a 94 4.0 5 speed 4x4 8.8 rear end that I just did a aluminum 1 piece swap on. I changed the flange on the back of the t case to the aluminum one from donor truck. I left the rear axle alone as it bolted right up. The shaft was from a 03 FX4 ranger extended cab yard said that truck had an 8.8 as well. After installation you can see in the photos it is totally compressed in the yoke to get it to fit. Am I missing something on the swap? New u joints torqued the nut on the flange to 160 ft lbs. All threads have said direct swap but this isnt anything im finding others had an issue with. Any info appreciated thank you.

maybe thats how its supposed to be?

jack the truck up from the back, or throw some weight into the bed and see how much the driveshaft actually compresses.

I'd be interested to see what your rear springs look like. You should have some "play" in the slip joint.
I'm looking to see if your axle is centered on the springs. The springs aren't bent/broke. The truck isn't sitting on bump stops.
