Just got a 94 Ranger. Trying to get the 4x4 going. The buttons don't light up for the 4x4. When I hit the button, I can hear something click from the 4x4 control module. Got a diagram printed out from a non-ford dealership. I got no power with the key on for Fuse 13 in interior. My diagram shows Fuse 13 feeds power to pin8??(lt blu/red) of the electronic control switch. Pin 8 shows it going to one lead of a lightbulb called Illum. Fuse 7 is good.

Anyone know more about Fuse 13? Does it go to a fusible link somewhere?

94 4x4

With my 94 i had an easy fix theres alot of people who say hit it with a hammer but i didnt do this i just headed to the junk yard and got a new transfercase motor. It sits on the back of the TC and is very easy to remove that is most likely your problem. there also online for about 80$ i got mine for 50$. after installation all lights should work and you should hear it engage and disengage. Hope this helps good luck!!

I tinkered with the electrical motor last Saturday.

I ended up taking the electrical motor off the transfer case. Got it apart and found pieces of what used to be the nylon stop. Those pieces might have been jammed in the gears of the electrical motor. I read somewhere that its best to use a 1/4" piece of hose that is 3/8" OD and 1/4" ID to replace the broken stop. All I had was 1/4" fuel injection line hose with an OD of 1/2" so I took a utility knife and skinned the OD down to 3/8". Cleaned up all the electrical contacts and motor bushing parts while I had it apart. Put it back together and still didn't work until I adjusted the cover on the bottom with the wires coming out of it by turning it. 4x4 works.

I ruined the thin gasket on the cover that has wires coming out of it. I put some black RTV silicone over the part of the gasket that was gone. I don't know if I can buy the replacement gasket somewhere but the black RTV should work for now.

As far as Fuse 13, I think its illumination for the dash lights. Maybe it gets power from the park light switch. Definitely shouldn't affect the 4x4 though.
