94 4.0 dies with any amount of throttle

This is a new to me bronco ranger conversion with a 94 4.0 5speed 4x4.
Engine starts up and idles perfect. No check engine light. When i give it any throttle at all it will spit and sputter then die if I don’t let off soon enough.if it dies I have to hold the throttle to the floor for it to start back up. It does this cold and warmed up.

Cleaned maf , cleaned IAC and put in new air filter.

Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thank you

Still questioning if you have the right ecm. No PATS on your truck, so it may not hurt to shove a junkyard ecm on it to see if it changes anything. They're usually $15-25

Ok I will go get one and try it out. Any specific ecm I should look for?

It shouldn't start at all with the pedal to the floor. something ain't right there... usually that means your injectors are leaking horribly but no idea what ECU you have. They all have clear flood mode from my understanding but I'm not super familiar with the early eec-iv computers.

what's your fuel pressure? Who knows if you have the right pump of fuel system in it... kinda complicated diagnosing a Frankenstein.

Yes that is what we know. Just wasn’t sure if that’s all I needed to look for in a vehicle to pull the ecm out of

If it were a stock truck, those symptoms say to me poor fuel pressure or crappy timing.

If you get another ECU make sure it's a non egr, manual vehicle or you'll get weird codes.

Ya I just got it the other day and posted in the bronco section to figure out what engine I had. Got a lot of good info . Figured I would post this more specific engine question in this section. I have not checked fuel pressure yet that will be on the list to check tho.

I be checking to see if all your injectors are firing. I bought a 1990 ford ranger guy put in a brand new engine long block He went overboard about putting new parts everywhere the one part he did not change was the injectors. I found out that nb# 2-3 Pistons are on the upswing of the crank and downswing of the crank 2 injectors can make your engine run But you will have no throttle response I got the truck for 500.00 and he paid for the tow He was so mad and no tired of it so he gave it away so i bought it mostly for the blue bed

It shouldnt start with your foot on the floor. That *should* kill the injectors.

Kinda wondering if its a MAP sensor issue or a TPS issue. Yes it should toss a code but EEC IV isnt the smartest thing around.

Does it idle ok? If it does i would really look at the TPS.

Unless the throttle cable is stretched (well know issue), then WOT won’t be quite WOT.
