94 4.0 al4d to 93 3.0 al4d

Well after many searches I am not able to find my answer . I have a 94 ranger 4.0 ohv 4x4 with the al4d trans and manual transfer case and after 207000 miles the transmission is about to take a dump... I have a 93 explorer 3.0 4x4 with a al4d trans . So my question is will the transmission swap without having to worry about any wiring or computers or any other unforseen problems "other than swapping the bell housing " ?

tranny swap

Not a good way to get a response but to answer your question: YES! the trannies are the same. The bellhousing and maybe the shift cable linkage will be the only changes you need to make.

well sorry but the internals are the only thing the same if u have a 3.0 tranny and want to put it in place of a 4.0 tranny. but here is the big problem to my knowledge no model ford explorers ever came with a 3.0..

WOW...really? You came here for help and you want it saying stuff like that and with only 3 posts. Look to the top there is a search button........maybe you should have clicked on that and retrieved your answer that way. Cause you would have found out that the 3.0 and the 4.0 transmission bellhousings are non-interchangeable. However you can use the 4.0 internals in the 3.0 cause they are stronger than the 3.0 internals. The bellhousings cannot be exchanged without an alignment tool and the bellhousing is part of the front pump.
