Will a 98 exploder 4.0 work in a 93 ranger? Im sure the obd is different and a few sensors but will my harness all plug in? What other years of rangers will work as well? And can a manuel 4.0 Also bolt with a torque converter from a auto?

Truthfully I'd get another engine from a 93-94 Ranger or Explorer.

AllanD explained to me that they seem to be happiest of the 4L's. Their heads also seem to more crack resistant. Just more mechanically sound.

While the later 95-00 4L have some improvements, using smaller chambers and changing things up for emissions made them a little less fuel efficient. Go figure.

That being said, it's possible to use a later engine, but will require you to swap your intake manifolds and fuel injectors over.
