93 Splash in SC, V8-Swap version

At 251,000 miles, I have no hesitation about replacing the whole assembly. It was already a "probable" to-do item on my list of things to check and replace.
Autozone Duralast Gold CDLG-FD41 is the whole thing new. Text/PM me if you want pricing

So, when I did my 5.0 swap I was confused that it had a cam sensor code and if you tried to mash the gas it would often choke. A whole assembly wasn’t much more than just the sensor so I swapped it all. My old assembly had play, I think it wasn’t engaging correctly. So if it has a code for the sensor, I’d strongly suggest at least checking the assembly if not just replacing the whole mess. It’s right in front on the 5.0 so easy to get to. I just barred the engine over until the thing lined up with the tool for setting it, pulled the old and dropped the new in, didn’t worry about TDC, the sensor isn’t going to notice the difference of being 180* out, because it’s going to see the same signal either way.

Do be aware if you get too rowdy you can push the oil pump driveshaft down and it won't engage the sensor assembly.

It engages in the bottom of the distributor/cam sensor and makes the oil pump do oil pump things. It is kind of a hokey thing but once together there isn't really any way for it mess up.

Best case you gotta pull the engine so you can resituate the driveshaft because you have no oil pressure. Worst case you gotta pull the engine so you can replace it because you ran it with no oil pressure.

I am sure my dizzy is heavier but I can get the drive gear to start to engage, I bump it with the remote starter and the dizzy will drop into place on its own once the triangular driveshaft lines up with the hole in the dizzy.

I didn’t really have any trouble dropping it in. Just like doing a distributor, don’t force it, if it’s not going, try again and do a little wiggle and jiggle. The only time I ever had a problem was when I ended up with the wrong length on a 4.0, apparently those have a couple different flavors. Fortunately in that case the first one was too long so it was immediately obvious there was a problem. Now I know to compare the old and new to make sure everything is correct.
