DO you by any chance live in medford? Oh and depending on BS of the wheels you run you can run 33's, there is a possibility that you would have to trim the fenders, I have 32's with 2in of lift

like Benny said, you can run 32's with just 2" up front ( I did trim the valence under the front bumper, very little though )....4" will get ya 33's easy....

if just goin up to 33's, then 4.10's would work if ya worried bout' fuel mileage/DD duties at all.... 4.56's would be better off-road.....

if you want "the best" rear locker...Detroit ( not a Tru-Track ) all the way....

as for the front, always better to have the front locked off-road, however for winter/ wet highway would be better to be open.....for the best, and if funds allow, get a selectable front; either ARB or a Eaton E-locker....

good luck with the truck....

so if off-road performance is a high priority....go with the 4.56's....

since this will also be a dd i would go 4.10's. my brother has a 4.0 ex-cab with 31's and it is still extremely torquey. he can do burnouts in 2nd gear without even touching the clutch. so 33's with 4.10's shouldnt be a problem

You can clear the 33's just fine with 4". And either 4.10s or 4.56s... depends on how important mileage is to you IMO. personally if it was mine and it wasnt my DD i would go for the 4.56s..which would also be fine with 35's if you ever decided to go bigger

My truck is my DD with 4.10s and 33s (old-style MT/Rs which already run small, and are half-bald, so actually getting close to 31s). I wish I had 4.56 gears.

Go 4.56 no matter what... DD and offroad. Mileage won't be much different either way, might as well have the extra torque.

Hubs--Have you ever changed wheel bearings before? If so then its that easy, just replace the auto stuff with the manual pieces and might as well check the bearings while you have it all apart..that easy.
T-case--t-case isnt bad at all esp if you have a buddy and a lift or atleast a warm garage to tackle it in. pretty much out with the old and in with the new here as well, just remember to pull your carpet back and remove the shifter plate thingy and cut out the hole for the shifter unless you have the plate from the exploder.

Think thats it!

i take it back. he doesnt even have 4.10's. he has 3.73's but is really torquey. still 4.10's would be good

I have the same tuck with a Skyjacker leveling kit in the front only and I am running 33” Pro Comp Xterrain on stock rims and with a little trimming it runs fine.

its has always seemed the 4.0 4wd supercabs all sat a little higher, they can fit (and came factory) with 31's, so a 4" lift and 33's is same as stock and 31s clearance wise

Don’t get me wrong my current setup works for trails and mild 4 wheeling.
As soon as I fix a few small things and I get my new motor, I will be putting a 4" Skyjacker stage 2 lift on it.

If his already has gears manual trans t case and hubs I would go for that.

For what it is worth, I love having the X-cab it is great for my dogs. And you need to think why would this guy trade a running truck for a none running truck? And how do you know that your neighbor’s truck will not crap out on you in a month or two?
At least when you fix your truck you know it is a runner!!!!
My trans went out on me and I had to get the money from a friend to fix it and it cost me a $1000.00 for a rebuild. And you may find that the running rough was because the trans is messed up, if the trans is loosing vacuum your motor will run rough.

So my two cents is fix you truck. And take you time building it to what you wont!
