found a 93 ranger on CL for sale, spoke with the guy and it has a 3" suspension lift and 3" BL. Im interested in it for the lift and axles for my other B2. Im guessing the front is most definitly the DAna35. but what is the rear? 7.5 or 8.8? its a 3.0 truck.

after looking through the tech library it looks like the front is the d35. and the rear is most probably a 7.5. Which is ok, the local j-yards only want $78 for a rear axle and have lots of disc brake explorer 8.8's. Im thinking buy this thing for $300, rob the lift and axle and rims (has weld racing rims). Then scrap it w/ the D28 and 7.5 from my B2 to get my money back. ($8 per 100lbs, should get me close to breaking even)

Better be careful... some of the early 3.0L trucks got what appears from the outside to be a D-35 axle. 10 bolts holding the diff on and the big looking shafts and all. Then you pull an axle shaft out and find that it's one of the hybrid D-35 axles.... been there, done that. Right where the shaft goes into the diff, it gets necked down to a D-28 shaft and inside the diff there are D-28 gears. Still not sure what genius thought that one up...

how can i tell the difference without pulling it apart? vin number? 10bolts vs?

ah thats where i looked originally, i guess i passed over it. Ok so here is my question... do all of the 28/35 hybrids have that smooth bottom finish vs the ribs?

here are the pics that were sent to me today, there isnt anything too revealing i dont think, curious on the lift though. And he said the bottom of the diff is not smooth, it is finned/ribbed. so does that mean D35?

Looks like I see ribs in this pic.

That lift looks like a very old-school 3" Rough Country kit that uses extensions on the stock brackets (take the axle after verifying the lift hasn't punched a hole in it, but run away from that lift as quick as you can).

ah thats bad news about running away from the lift, that was 50% of the reason i wanted the truck. If all thats good on it is just the axle and rear lift its not really worh the $300 ya know.

Cant really see the pumpkin in any of the pics. the easiest way to find out if its a hybrid is to check the left top number on the tag. If you see this #610418 then you have the hybrid axle, and you dont want a hybrid. Trust me I have one.

Find out what axle code it is, because the "Hybred" was only made in
the 4.10 and 3.45 axle ratio.

If the truck has 3.73 gears then it won't be a hybred.
