'93 Ranger rag jointed steering shaft

Happy Thanksgiving all!

Well, it looks like my upper rag joint is toast on the steering shaft that connects the steering column (firewall) to the steering box. I found the Help! kit at my local autoparts store to remedy the problem but I was also thinking that maybe a local junkyard might have good one (complete assembled shaft) . How much should I expect to pay for the salvage yard shaft?

i just replaced that joint on mine as well. I think i spent 20 bucks on the part. In my opinion its not worth the time to pull a used one from a junkyard and it would probly not be but a few bucks cheaper.

One out of a bronco II works. That's what I did. Now, I think im going to end up making a custom one off of a cherokee (they use u-joints) which is stronger than those dumb rubber rag joints.

there are ford shafts available that have u-joints in them, i think maybe aerostars had them but i dont remember for sure

Get a new one and you will be good for another 15 yrs. U joints freeze up for various reasons.
