My header tube wants to occupy the same space as the rag joint down by the box. What options, besides going a full custom shaft, do I have to get rid of the rag joint. And use a coupler?

I tried buying an f150 shaft. But there's no splines going down to the box. Might cut and weld what I need. But figured I'd ask first

I found a steering shaft from an earlier ranger that had u-joints and it works fine. My new rag joints didn't like the 3" BL and the shaft kept binding. I think the U-joint version was from a '91. I also got a shaft from a Jeep XJ, but never could get it to work. IIRC welding the steering shaft is a big no-no because of safety issues.

Use one from an aerostar van
