I have a 93 Ford Ranger 4x4 4.0 liter, 5 speed tranny. As far as I can tell, its pretty much stock. How can I tell what type of rear-end, transfer case, and front end is on the truck? Someone who got under there told me I had the beefier versions, whatever that means. Were there options on the drive train in 93? Thanks.

Tell you what (little) I know. You've got the 8.8 rear end, all the 4.0's do. Your transfer case is a borg warner 1354, if you're lucky, it's the manual transfer case, but it's probably the electric version. Front end is a dana 35. Those were the only available drivelines in 93.

You can check youraxle code and see if it is LSD or not by looking here http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/Axles.html

Wow thanks for the quick reply! I've had this question in another ranger forum for 2 months with no reply.
