I have a 93' Ranger Super Cab Sport with 4.0 and 5-spd manual....almost 300,000 miles and still going strong. I have a left knee injury that is bothered by the "Hard" clutch. I would like to know if anybody has been able to make the clutch action easier? Maybe a larger clutch master cylinder??

Maybe a different slave cylinder, although I don't think I would want to bother with the slave cylinder being that it is inside of the transmission.

thanks,
Dave

I don't really know if there's anything specific you can do, but when I replaced my clutch and slave, the pedal was softer than it was before when I was done.

I'll second that; like night and day.....'course, I also replaced a leaking slave and that was probably the key.

I think a SMALLER bore clutch master would give you an easier pedal. The 93 master is smaller than some of the earlier ones; not sure if any masters are smaller than the 93. You may be able to lengthen the pedal a bit to give more mechanical advantage. Looks like there is room to do it. You could clamp on a temporary extension and see if it helps before changing it permanently.

It's a larger bore on the slave, or a smaller bore on the master. Either will give you a longer throw, which could be a problem.

I also found that a stock replacement slave cylinder made the action EXTREMELY light, for over a year. Now, it's not so light anymore, but maybe your knee injury will be better by then.

It was scary how light the action was. I thought I had air in the lines, but the inspection port showed sufficient motion and shifting was fine.

Hi! It is possible to buy a Slave Cylinder alone, I mean not buying the complete clutch kit? If it yes...where? Here in my country you must buy the complete kit :rolleyes Do you have a part number or something? Thanks in advance!

You have to buy the slave with the release bearing (usually), but not with a whole clutch kit. Though it's a good idea to replace the clutch if it isn't in absolutely new and perfect condition, since it's such a pain to get in there.

The only part numbers I can get easily are NAPA, which I wouldn't recommend.
