93 Ford Explorer-Running like crap

There was never one from the factory...good luck not breaking the bolts. A one hour job can easily turn into a one day trying to remove the broken bolt(s) in the head.

there wasnt? then how do they not leak? they sell gaskets for them

Well great news, I thought the exhaust manifold was either cracked or loose, but it wasn't, it was the flange that hooks up to the intermediate pipe was loose, so a quick tightening and it's no longer leaking. Sounds a crapload better now too, not like a dying farm truck lol

No, they were just machined flat with no gasket. They make gaskets for them because as they age, things no longer are as flat as they once were, especially with the amount of heat cycles on them. If you do have them off for any reason, by all means throw a gasket in there.

yup good thing it was only a leaky flange that i tightened up and no more crappy leaking lol

Now I just changed the thermostat, and it started smoking out of the exhaust, it doesnt really smell, but its smoking pretty good when im driving. Does changing the thermostat make the exhaust smoke? I just added more antifreeze/water also. this explorer is frustrating me

Well I fixed the smoking problem, but it's still loading up under any throttle....I've changed the maf multiple times with junkyard ones, but none seem to work...I need this problem fixed because I have someone who wants to buy it Saturday
