CANP = canister purge system?

i noticed that there was a line rusted completely through next to the fuel lines in the engine bay and traced it down as being a line from the tank area to the charcoal canister near the battery. does the PCM even know that it exists other then to fire the solenoid to dump the fumes every so often? i dont ever remember getting a check engine light for this before pulling the motor, so im wondering how imparative it is that it be repaired hooked back up?

the pcm has no clue the evap system is there other than opening and closing the solenoid.

still wouldnt be a bad idea to get it repaired to keep crap out of your fuel tank.

are you talking about open lines ultimatly leading to the tank? wether i repair or remove the stuff, i'd still make sure everthing was sealed up that needed to be.

yes i mean the line between the gas tank and the evap canister. i would recommend keeping (or repairing) this line...and since vacuum line is cheap, you might as well repair the one between the manifold and canister if it needs it.

you dont want to seal the tank, it needs to be vented. it vents through the evap canister, which acts as a filter to keep gas fumes in, and bad stuff out.
