I flipped my poor truck and I'm lookin at getting a new body to throw on it. Everything is fine except for the body, and I was wondering if a newer body would fit on the frame. If not, how much modification is required?

i have a complete 93 splash body for sale

You don't know if it will fit no problem though? My truck is a regular cab, long bed. But, I know that an extended cab, short bed will fit too.

So, I'm guessing from a lack of response that this is not possible. I guess i'll just stick with my 83-92 options.

it is possible to do, but it will take some custom fab body brackets for the frame. im fairly sure the the mounting points are way different. if you can go to a junk yard and check the difference between the two different frames and brackets

what is it you are wanting to do? everything should be pretty much the same (with respect to wheel base and cab configuration) from 83 - 97. The ranger did not change much dimension wise alot from 83 -97......

I seen a VW bug on a K5 Blazer frame so anything is possible.

thats kinda what i was thinking. I guess I'll just try to stick with a 83-92 body. I could fab up brackets, but it would be easier to just bolt on.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. I thought i had read that the ext cab, short bed was the same wheelbase as the reg cab, long bed. My bad

I'm fairly sure the body mounts are the same actually. On all the Rangers IIRC.

Hmm, idk. You would think throwing a newer body on the older frame would be more popular if it was as simple as bolting it up. That would be cool to be able to put a newer body on my frame for sure.

The body to the frame isn't so much the issue as it is all the stuff attached to the firewall and electrical that make it a problem.

True, well maybe if i find a good deal on a newer body style truck, ill just try it. It would be nice to have front fenders that could fit larger tires easier. My engine is a 92, so if i found a body close to a 92, just the newer body style, maybe there wouldnt be much different.

a lil birdy told me that the body mounts never changed throughout the ranger's entire run, even up to 2009. So really..if you found a truck with the exact same configuration as yours (i.e. reg. cab, long bed - reg. cab, long bed; ex. cab, short bed - ex. cab, short bed; etc. etc.) then it'd be BY PRINCIPLE ALONE a bolt off bolt on deal.
