93 4.0 trans help

ok so i got this 93 from a guy that lived next door to my gramp. really nice guy, the motor just was rebuild with 30K on it, no the trans is starting to go out, im not sure if its the trans or the shift sensor... when its cold( the truck not weather) it doesnt want to shift, so i man. shift through the gears and then it will shift fine for the rest of the day, when i change a gear im not on the gas i let off... then i see from the tach that it has shifted... anyway, now it slips like a mother when i got form 2-3... but then put it in OD and it will go in to gear and then it will work perfectly fine the rest of the day as long as the motor doesnt get cold... i dont know what the hell the deal is... i checked the oil and it was fine..

so what the hell is going on?

i have push button 4x4 and that works but i cant get the push button for low... it doesnt go in... i dont know what the deal is...
