i want to get a 5 speed for my 93 4.0, got the a4ld in there now that will die any day. ive been told the fm145 is what i need, and also been told the mazda m50d-r1 is what i need soo im a little confused wich one would be the right one.

the fm145 may work, but the M5OD is far superior and more common. any 5 speed out of a 1993+ 4.0 truck will be an M5OD.

both will work, however the m50d is the one u want if u can get ahold of one, built to handle the power

thanks for the help, hopefully i got some time with mine now so i can look around for a little and try to get a good deal.

where are u located at, that will aid in ur search as many people read threads lookin for people that need parts

western mass. id be willing to drive a little ways too for a good deal, has anyone ever personally swapped the 5 speed in place of auto though? ive put a new trasmission in 2 cars but both was just 5 speed to a newer 5 speed, just wondering if its even worth the work for me to enjoy the standard or if i should just go the easy way and get another a4ld. or maybe just start saving for a new rig.

its been done, search the forums.

the hardest part by far is installing the clutch pedal.
