I just swapped the engine in my truck with a 93 engine. The 93 doesn't have and EGR. I just plugged everything in as it fit. Will I have any issues with this?? Will i have to swap the ECUs. I do have the other truck (complete -engine/trans) if needed. I'd rather not install the EGR because of the manifolds.

***I haven't ran it yet(no starter), I'm putting the trans back in it tomarrow.

The simplest thing to do is swap the intake and exhaust manifolds back on from the old engine. WITH the EGR.

It's technically illegal to put in an earlier engine, but New Jersey may allow it. Ask your smog referee; there is almost certainly a process you have to go through. With a long-block swap, the differences are so tiny that no one will find them (and it won't matter). But it will be really obvious if you don't have an EGR valve that is supposed to be there (and disabling emissions equipment has a BIG fine).

If your local regulators allow it, you'll almost certainly have to swap the ENTIRE emissions system, including the harness and computer.

If you just need to make it work well, you still DO need the 1993 computer. I don't know if the harness will work, but I suspect it might.

jersey dont let you put older year engines in either, or bigger of a newer year. but like anything there is ways around it.

To hell with Jersey. The motor is in my truck.

If you ever fought with a manifold from a Jersey truck you would understand why i didn't swap it.

It runs great except for missing from 2,100 to 2,900 RPM under load

Also today, I pulled 13 codes from the ECU. Every EGR code out there, Lean codes on B1 and B2, A few HO2S codes.

But the code that bothers me is, Cylinder ID Circuit Failure. Never seen that one, and it sounds bad.

I just wanna swap the ECU. I have a feeling it will fix all my problems. My question is, Will my harness work with the 93 non-cali ECU?

NO The 94 Cali emissions 4.0 harness will not work with the 93 ECU.

All 4.0s that have an EGR are all sequintial fuel injection, they fire all 6 injectors independently.
All the other 4.0s have "batch fire" injection and fire 3 injectors at a time.

The sequintial injector harness has 7 wires in it, the "batch" harness has 3 wires.

In my case I have to swap my ecu and the entire engine harness.

Thanks to AllanD for the info. If I left something out please ad to it.
