93 4.0 idle issues

just started havin this problem, i start the truck and it idles about 12-1500 rpm for about 10 secs then slow drops down and once it hits 900 1000 it dies right out. i cna drive it around aslong as i keep the gas goin. just looking for any info on where to start lookin. any help is greatly appreciated.thanks
 
alright so i pulled the pin on the maf and it runs fine. is it safe to say i need a new sensor or could it be something else

Yes, that could be all that's wrong but not for sure, the MAF acts similar to a choke, the fast idle at start up is normal until sensors check air and engine temp then idle drops, if "choked" then it could die.

A vacuum leak could also prevent idling.
