93 4.0 going weird...

so i got this 93 i'm gonna try to sell soon but the trans is acting up... the first time i drive it for the day it doesnt like to shift but once i get it to shift all the gears then it shifts fine... it doesnt change gears untill you hit about 2500... and it stays in OD till your going about 45 then she kicks out but i dont understand why it doesnt shift right when you go... its worse when its cold... also if you rev it too high in 2nd its like it just chokes... i dont know if its slipping or what... the rpm's dont spike when it does it, its at about 3500... i dont know if its like its trying to shift or what the hell it is... there are wires on the trans that have been cut and reconnected...

I also dont have a low, its a push button but it doesnt go in so i dont know if theres a bad connection some place or what...

i really would like to get rid of this and get a powerstroke so as soon as i can get this figured out the better! thanks alot...
 
The fluid has to warm up in order to operate correctly. However it is most likley just in need of clean fluid and maybe a filter change. As far as the 4x4 how do you know it wont go into low, is it just no light? or it doesnt drive like its geared down. If someone has worked on the button htey might have put it back so the light isnt in the slot. Otherwise use the tech article on testing the 4x4 box and cleaning the electronic shift motor.

replace the vaccuum modulator on the passenger side of the trans next to the cat. its cheap and probably the problem

Yeah that and first look at the hose to see if it is attached well or cracked.. Also the filter change might be in order.

definitely check the hose, mine wont stay on without a zip tie, im too lazy to replace it lol
