was gunna ask the question that if my exahust is disconnected but still runs through the cat is this hard on my truck? one of the collars holding the pices together rusted off was wondering if this will burn up my valves
or cause any other harm its going to get fixed no matter what but i dont have the cash right now to do so or anyone with a welder

It's not good for it but won't hurt it. The knock sensor will pick up the exhaust leak and retard the timing and that will hurt power and gas mileage but wont hurt it.

I just had an exhaust put on my '91 4.0. Sounds like you have the same setup mine use to have, exhaust rusted off right after the cat. I just got a cheap cherry bomb turbo muffler and have a turnout in front of the rear right wheel. The muffler itself was $21.95 from summit and I just had Muffler Man do it, it wound up being $80. So all together about $100, you could do it cheaper if you have a pipe bender and welder and can do it yourself, but Muffler Man gave me a 1 year warranty with it and they did it right and in about an hour, so to me it was worth it.

had the same thing happen on my 93. welded a 2" ID coupling right into the rear cat and welded the exhaust into it. should be able to get someone to do it for a few bucks.
