So I had a previous thread about my flywheel and starter I recently fixed. Now I not getting any tail lights or brake lights or dash lights. All other interior lights, headlights, turn signals/flashers and reverse lights all work. All fuses are good under the hood and dash. Battery connection is good, the ground next to the frame is good as well. Is there a specific ground else where for these specific lights? Any other thoughts?

there is a connector that all of the tail lights go through that is located where the rear most frame crossmember meets the drivers side frame rail, take that apart and check for corrosion, if that's not the problem there's another connector involved in that circuit on the drivers side front inner fender, don't remember which one it is...

It ended up being my headlight switch. Replaced it and the connector as it had melted it getting to hot. Worked great for a few days. Now same problem. Anyone have any ideas what could cause a short here? I thought about changing the fuse from a 15amp to a 20 or 25 amp fuse?

So you want it to melt faster by installing a bigger fuse? Did it blow the fuse? if not a bigger fuse won't change anything. You have melted the switch twice. I would start looking for a wire shorting to ground somewhere, as scott said, start at your connectors. I would follow the wires off of your switch also. look for any bare spots on wires touching any metal.

I feel dumb for thinking backwards haha. I'm gong to be looking for bare wires this weekend when I have time.

Found the problem this morning. The trailer harness was shorting out the circuit
