I got a 92 2.3 and the clutch is really stiff. I have a 89' with a swap 4L and that clutch is a breeze...

I read some posts and I should open the bleeder when depressing the pedal and see if it gets easier, if it does than its in the bell, if not its the master correct?

Also when I take off from a stop the truck shudders could this be part of the same problem or maybe I need traction bars? The truck is also lowered. A previous owner did that so I have no idea what they could have done to it. I know suspension and it looks solid underneath at the rear not rigged up.

if the shudder only occurs while the clutch it slipping then its most likely a warped flywheel.

i never would have thought of testing the clutch stiffness that way...but i suppose it would work. just make sure someone tightens the bleeder while the pedal is pushed down because if you let the pedal up with it open you'll pull air into the slave.
