Hi,

92 Ford Ranger XLT 3.0. If I use the truck daily it starts up fine. If it sits for a day or two it will not start. Engine cranks but will not turn over. If I wait a few hours and try again it starts right up. Anyone have any ideas? It has a new battery, starter and ignition coil. Thanks

When you first turn the key on, listen carefully for the fuel pump to zzzzzzzzzzzt for about 2 or 3 seconds. If you don't hear this try swapping the fuel pump relay. If that doesn't do it slap the hell out of the gas tank and see if you can jump start the pump... If you do hear it try turning the key on and off several times, building up fuel pressure before cranking. If this works, its probably the fuel pressure regulator. Either way, next time it does this, shoot a little gas or starting fluid in the intake and see if it fires off. If it does, it is definitely a fuel problem, and if not, start looking at electrical stuff such as the coil connections, etc.
