My ranger xlt was a great truck until my son hit a tree at about 30 mph. It has 101k miles and too nice to scrap. I ran it often to keep the battery charged with no problem. I have repaired 90% of the body work. One day I started it up, went in the house, after about 5 to 10 minutes, went outside and it was making an awful noise. I ran and shut it off. Now ,after several minutes, the oil pressure needle drops to zero. I don't think it's the sensor because of the noise it made that one time. I believe it's the oil pump or screen. Manual says to pull engine. Ford service dept. says to just lift engine to remove oil pan. Any suggestions or advice concerning this problem?
