I just picked up a 92 ranger 4x4 with 2.9. The 4x4 does not work. Is there anyway I could lock it into 4x4 for the rifle season.
The motor and tranny will be coming out and going into a different 92 ranger that had a blown motor and tranny so just trying to get a quick fix for now and will only be driven 1.5 miles back and forth to the tree stand and just want 4x4..

thanks

Jeff

Absolutely dont buy teh shifter, unless you wanna get out in the mud or snow and lay down in it to shift the transfer case. Its a nice simple fix to a even simpler problem. Read the tech article for how to clean the shift motor. ITs way too easy, it take twenty minutes to dismantle, wipe it down and reassemble it. Thats including uninstall and install time. Even if the motor is bad, you can get 3 more at a junkyard to replace it with for hte price of one shifter.

Just wanted a quick fix because she will be coming apart in a couple of weeks. Hopefully it doesn't snow too much.
And the last guy gave me 3 actuators so he tried that I'm thinking it's a behind the dash issue because the fuel gauge doesn't work and when I unhooked the 4x4 push buttons the fuel gauge went up.
Oh well 2wd will have to do..

Thanks

Jeff
