92 4 cyl dieing

i have looked on here an can not find my problem i have a 92 swb sc with a 2.3 5 speed a/c p/s p/b the problem is sometimes it will shudder like no fuel but not die other times it will shudder and die out. when it dies out i let it sit for about 5 mins with the switch off then it will crank up and run like its fine if you leave the switch on it will not crank up. i have replaced the fuel pump the acss relay the fuel pump relay still does it sometimes it will run for 2 weeks with no problem.

is this only at an idle? the Idle air control motor can cause this at an idle.

otherwise you need to be doing some tests. try to unplug the SPOUT shorting bar when the problem is happening. its near the intake manifold on my 89. 92's might have it near the headlight

thanks for the reply i am sorry it will do it at all speeds for idle to hwy speeds in any gear at any time i never know when it will happen

well this could be caused by a few things. EGR, fuel pump. are you able to do a fuel pressure test?

i like to hook a fuel pressure gauge up and zip tie the gauge to the windshield wiper so i can watch pressure while the running problem is happening.

i have replaced the pump 2 times in the last 6 months also pump relay and acss relay that is beside the pump relay its been happening for about a year an 1/2 its driving me nuts trying to find problem. i will try cleaning the egr valve and see what that does.
